ASPCA Field Investigation Responders on Scene in Bay Springs, Miss. to Assist in Seizure of Dogs

Bay Springs, Miss – The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), under the authority and request of the Jasper County (Miss.) Sheriff’s Department and local animal welfare authorities, has dispatched its field investigations and response team to assist in the removal of nearly 50 dogs and collect evidence in the investigation of a Bay Springs breeder.

The ASPCA is also working with local authorities to establish a temporary shelter for the dogs, which include Chihuahuas, Shih Tzus, cocker spaniels, basset hounds, and other breeds.

ASPCA Responders on Scene of Animal Rescue in Erie County

NEW YORK—The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), under the authority and request of the SPCA Serving Erie County, N.Y., has dispatched its Field Investigations and Response Team to assist in the sheltering management and care of more than 70 horses rescued last week from an East Aurora, N.Y. farm.

Jeff Eyre, the ASPCA’s Northeast Director of Field Investigations and Response, said the ASPCA is establishing sheltering teams comprised of skilled horse handlers and staff for feeding, watering and cleaning for the next two to three weeks.

ASPCA Provides $20,000 Grant to Southeast Llama Rescue

NEW YORK--The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced a $20,000 grant to Southeast Llama Rescue (SELR) to help transport approximately 300 of 650-plus llamas from Montana Large Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Niarada, Mont., to foster homes across the country. The llamas were among more than 1,000 animals left abandoned and severely neglected on the defunct sanctuary, which closed down in December 2010.
