ASPCA Delivers Critical Pet Supplies to Communities Throughout Florida Impacted by Hurricane Irma

NEW YORK—As part of its ongoing efforts to provide assistance for animals impacted by Hurricane Irma, the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) delivered critical pet supplies to dozens of shelters and resource centers in communities affected by the storm in Florida. The ASPCA estimates that more than 11,500 cats and dogs have been assisted through the distribution of pet food, bedding, medical supplies, crates and additional resources to shelters and pet owners in need.

ASPCA Continues to Help Hundreds of Animals Displaced by Hurricane Irma through Field Rescue, Relocation & Emergency Sheltering

NEW YORK—In response to Hurricane Irma, the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) has been on the ground in Florida and South Carolina assisting local authorities with relocation, field rescue, and emergency sheltering for more than 1,200 animals impacted by Hurricane Irma.

ASPCA Assists SPCA of Texas with Emergency Sheltering of Pets Displaced by Hurricane Harvey

Dallas, Texas—At the request of the SPCA of Texas, the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) has deployed a team of professional responders to help provide sheltering support and daily care for more than 150 pets displaced by Hurricane Harvey at an emergency animal shelter established by the SPCA of Texas in Dallas. The shelter is expecting to receive approximately 250 more owned animals from transports from evacuee shelters in Alexandria and Shreveport, La.

ASPCA Transports Shelter Animals Displaced by Hurricane Harvey from Houston SPCA to ASPCA Adoption Center

New York, N.Y.—In support of the Houston SPCA, the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) is assisting in the transport and relocation of 41 shelter animals from Houston to the ASPCA’s Adoption Center in New York City, followed by a second stop at the Connecticut Humane Society in Newington, Conn.

Houston, Texas——In support of the Houston SPCA, the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) is deploying its disaster response team to assist in the transport and relocation of animals displaced by severe flooding following Hurricane Harvey in Harris County, Texas.

ASPCA Assisting Displaced Animals in Galveston, Following Devastating Flooding after Hurricane Harvey

Galveston, Texas—At the request of the Galveston County Animal Resource Center, the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) has deployed its disaster response team to help assess needs for animals displaced by severe flooding following Hurricane Harvey in Galveston, Texas. The ASPCA is currently working with local shelters to manage the transport and relocation of approximately 120 homeless animals from Galveston County to shelters in Austin and Dallas.

ASPCA Concludes Assistance in Neglect Case Involving More Than 1,700 Animals Seized from Roy’s Aquarium in Beaufort, S.C.

Beaufort, S.C.—For nearly two weeks, the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) has been assisting the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Services with the investigation, removal and sheltering of more than 1,700 animals of various species – including fish, reptiles, birds, gerbils, hamsters and guinea pigs – living in deplorable conditions at a defunct pet store called Roy’s Aquarium in Beaufort, S.C.

ASPCA Assists Lake County Animal Care & Control in Sheltering Displaced Animals from Intense Wildfire in Northern California

Lower Lake, Calif.—At the request of the Lake County Animal Care & Control and its animal disaster response team Lake Evacuation & Animal Protection (LEAP), the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) has been on the ground since Tuesday assisting the local agency with field rescues and emergency sheltering for approximately 150 displaced animals—including cats, dogs, birds and livestock—affected by the Clayton fire.

ASPCA Helps to Rescue More than 100 Dogs from FL Puppy Mill

The ASPCA is on the ground in Clewiston, Florida, assisting with the removal, evidence collection, sheltering and medical care of more than 100 dogs from a substandard, unlicensed breeding facility believed to be a puppy mill. The dogs were being sold to pet stores in the Miami-Dade area. An investigation of the facility began after several complaints were made by individuals in the community, and the ASPCA stepped in to help at the request of the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office.
