ASPCA, IFAW, Code 3 Associates, RedRover & SAWA Assist Central OK Humane Society in Caring for Animals Displaced by Violent Tornado in Moore, Okla.

NEW YORK—The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), at the request of Central Oklahoma Humane Society (OK Humane) in Oklahoma City, Okla., has dispatched its disaster response team to assist with shelter operations as the facility experiences an influx of animals affected by the devastating tornado that hit Moore, Okla. on May 20. The ASPCA and OK Humane are also coordinating the distribution of pet food to impacted areas.

OK Humane, ASPCA, Code 3 Associates Initiate Cat Trapping Program for Pet Owners Impacted by the Tornado in Oklahoma City Areas

NEW YORK—The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), at the request of Central Oklahoma Humane Society (OK Humane) in Oklahoma City, Okla., has initiated a cat trapping program for the families impacted by the tornado in the Oklahoma City areas. Code 3 Associates Animal Disaster Response (Longmont, Colo.) is also assisting with this effort.

ASPCA Names Tim Rickey as Senior Director of Field Investigations and Response

NEW YORK—The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) has appointed Tim Rickey as Senior Director of its newly created Field Investigations and Response team, effective January 4, 2010.

Rickey was formerly the Director of the Animal Cruelty Task Force and Disaster Response team for the Humane Society of Missouri (HSMO), where he recently led the largest dog fighting raid in U.S. history, covering eight states and seizing more than 500 dogs in one day.

The Louisiana SPCA Announces the Gulf Coast Companion Animal Relief Program Providing relief to people and pets affected by the BP Oil disaster

New Orleans, LA—The Louisiana SPCA (LA/SPCA) along with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the lead sponsor, the Best Friends Animal Society, and several local organizations have begun the Gulf Coast Companion Animal Relief Program to provide services to pet owners suffering economic hardship as a result of the April 20, 2010 Deepwater Horizon Oil rig explosion.

ASPCA Responders Provide Relief for Shelter Animals in Pikeville, Ky.

NEW YORK—The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), at the request of the Pike County Animal Shelter in Pikeville, Ky., has dispatched its field investigations and response team to assist in the emergency transport and placement of nearly 100 animals living in the municipal shelter. The animals will be permanently relocated to various shelters in nearby states and allow the Pike County Animal Shelter the capacity to accept displaced animals by the recent flooding.
