The ASPCA Regional Advocacy Field Team (RAFT) provides a unique opportunity for animal advocates to take action in their communities by supporting the passage of effective animal protection laws.

RAFT volunteers work closely with the ASPCA’s Legislative Engagement team and fellow volunteers across the nation to help pass priority legislation through grassroots advocacy. Tasks may include:

ASPCA Commends New Jersey Lawmakers for Passing Bill to Ban Pet Leasing

NEW JERSEY–The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) commends New Jersey lawmakers for passing a bill to prohibit deceptive financing schemes known as pet leasing. Sponsored by Assemblymembers John Armato and Raj Mukherji, and Sens. Vin Gopal and Kristin Corrado, A.4552/S.3531 now heads to Gov. Phil Murphy for his consideration.

ASPCA Commends Indiana Gov. Holcomb for Signing Bill to Ban Pet Leasing

NEW YORK–The ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) commends Indiana lawmakers and Gov. Eric Holcomb for enacting a new law (H.B. 1447) prohibiting deceptive financing schemes known as pet leasing. Indiana is now the fourth state to ban these predatory arrangements, after California, Nevada and New York.
