As a part of The Rescue Effect campaign, we’re teaming up with our friends at Walker’s Shortbread to make this the best year yet! Together, we’re highlighting a few animals from our facilities across the country, and we can’t wait for you to meet them. Philippa

This charming girl knows exactly how to win hearts, greeting visitors with adorable little chirps and affectionate head bumps that make everyone feel welcome! She has an affectionate personality and plenty of love to share. Gladstone

Gladstone is a handsome 4-year-old pup with an adventurous spirit and playful heart. Whether he’s exploring the outdoors or enjoying a game with his favorite people, he brings enthusiasm and joy wherever he goes. This gorgeous boy loves to be outside on leisurely walks where he can stop to soak in the fresh air, sniff the flowers, and appreciate every interesting scent along the way. Hamhock

Meet Hamhock, the sweetest “ham” you’ll ever meet! This affectionate girl loves spending time with people, and already knows commands like, “sit” and “place.” She loves training and is eager to learn new skills and show off what she knows. When she isn’t training, you’ll usually find her playing fetch with her favorite toy or soaking up attention from our team. Learn more about Hamhock!

Randi

Randi is a gentle girl with a wonderfully silly side. Around familiar friends, Randi lets her playful personality shine and has been known to celebrate with some seriously happy zoomies! Randi enjoys heading outside for walks, where she can take in her surroundings and explore at her own pace. Back inside, one of her favorite ways to have fun is figuring out puzzle toys, especially when there’s a tasty reward waiting inside. Learn more about Randi!

Asheville, North Carolina

Mushroom

This sweet, medium-energy girl truly lives up to her name, putting the “fun” in fungus! When Mushroom first arrived at the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center, she lacked confidence in the world around her and was unsure of new people and places. Now as a graduate of our program, she loves adventures, car rides, playtime with dog friends and curling up for cuddles when the day is done! Mushroom is great with other dogs and has a wonderful ability to match the energy of her playmates, whether that means romping with playful pups or peacefully coexisting with more laidback companions. Pecan

Meet Pecan! She is a little goofy, a little shy and very proud of both. Pecan is the kind of dog who reminds you that trust is built, not rushed. She came to the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center as a fearful stray and worked hard to be the resilient graduate she is now! She loves being outside, following her nose and taking her time exploring. Long, sniffy walks, wandering around the fenced-in yard and wading through water are some of her favorite ways to spend the day. Once she’s had her fill, she’s happy to settle in nearby and relax. Genevieve

This one-eyed beauty is an absolute purr machine and wastes no time making friends. She’ll greet you with adorable little chirps before rubbing against your legs and just about anything else within reach! She’s perfectly happy being held and loves being close to her people, but don’t let that cuddly side fool you. When a toy comes out, Genevieve transforms into a ferocious little huntress! She especially enjoys long toys like string and felt snake toys, and she’s an expert at tracking her prey. Learn more about Genevieve!

Viscount

If you’re looking for a kitten who wants to be where the action is, look no further than Viscount! This social little guy loves people, other animals, playtime and pretty much anything else that makes life interesting. He’s the kind of kitten who wants to be part of the family, and he’ll happily keep you company with a constant soundtrack of purrs! He loves being pet, held and cuddled, and he’s equally happy just hanging out in the same room as his people. Learn more about Viscount!

If this isn’t the right time to adopt, you can also make a major difference for animals in need by becoming a foster caregiver! Dogs and cats like these benefit from spending time in foster homes instead of the shelter.
