October is one of our favorite months, Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! Throughout the month, we will be featuring some of the fantastic pups available for adoption at our programs across the country. Scroll down and you might just find your paw-fect match!

This is also the last month of The Rescue Effect, our national campaign dedicated to helping animals in need find loving homes! By adopting or fostering a dog like these, you are helping to free up space and resources for shelters to help even more animals. Help one, help many — that’s The Rescue Effect.

Brunson

This young guy is a fulltime sweetheart! Brunson adores pets, leaning into them as much as he can. He just loves getting affection from his friends! He’s also quite motivated by tasty treats, which makes training a lot of fun. Adventurous Emilio is eager to stay active with you! He enjoys exploring new places or simply spending time together with his friends. Coney

Coney is a three-legged pup who doesn’t let anything slow her down! She’s a resilient lady who loves making new friends, both human and other dogs alike. Aptly named after a loyal dragon, Sgaeyl is ready to fly right into your heart! He is still a puppy, and he is eager to learn more every day. He’ll do anything for a tasty treat or just to get your attention! He loves playing with his squeaky toys, and he socializes well with confident adult dogs who can show him the ropes. Garrick

Garrick is named after a character from the same fantasy series as Sgaeyl, and like his namesake, he is bold, loyal and full of puppy personality! He is a wiggly boy who loves getting attention from his friends. He can be shy with new faces, but he is quickly won over with treats. If you don’t live near these areas, but you are still interested in participating in Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, please consider adopting from your local shelter. You can also visit our friends at Animal Care Centers of NYC or the Los Angeles County’s Animal Care Centers.

If you aren’t ready to adopt, you can still make a huge difference as a foster caregiver! Fostering not only helps show pets what home life is like, it also opens up more space in shelters. You can foster for the ASPCA in Columbus, Ohio, New York City, Los Angeles (cat fosters only) and Weaverville, North Carolina (dog fosters only). You may also be able to sign up to foster with your local shelter!
