In many parts of the country, winter weather is in full swing. For those experiencing snowy or icy conditions, it’s important to keep in mind that the winter season poses some elevated health risks for our pets—including our pets’ paws. Before you take your pups outside for a stroll through the snow, check out a few of our winter paw-care tips: 
  • Towel off. It’s helpful to bring a towel along on long walks to clean off irritated paws.

Update—December 17, 2014: Great news! This bill passed both chambers and was signed into law by President Obama on December 16. No horse slaughter plants will open on U.S. soil for at least one more year!

Pup and Circumstance: Lucy Is Ready for a Home

The ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center in Madison, New Jersey, is the first and only facility dedicated to providing behavioral rehabilitation for fearful, undersocialized dogs,  such as those confiscated from puppy mills and hoarding situations. In our regular “Pup and Circumstance” column, we introduce the Rehab Center’s latest graduates in hopes of finding each one the loving forever home they deserve.
