Great news: The U.S. House and Senate both passed the FY2016 Appropriations bill today. The language blocking funding for domestic horse slaughter inspections and addressing lax animal-welfare oversight at the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center—both high-priority issues for the ASPCA—was retained in the final version. The bill was delivered to President Obama, who signed it this afternoon.

Just in time for the holidays, we’re bringing you the heartwarming story of Lindsay, a senior pit bull who found the perfect home at the age of six. Lindsay’s’ journey was a long one, but given her new family’s commitment to her happiness, it was well worth the wait! Here is Lindsay’s Happy Tail.

Update: We are thrilled to share that 48 bunnies found loving homes at our rabbit adoption event on Saturday, which was held in New York City’s Union Square and in Central Park. The event, held in collaboration with Ani-Care Animal Hospital and the NYPD, marked a new start for these 48 bunnies, who were rescued by the ASPCA in January 2015.
