There’s nothing like the love and companionship that an older pet provides — that’s why we’re excited to celebrate Adopt a Senior Pet Month! Every November, we highlight some of our adorable senior pets who are looking for homes. These sweethearts are in the tri-state area and can’t wait to meet you!

Lyle

A grey cat lying down in a bed

Lyle is a quiet, friendly guy who enjoys keeping an eye on his surroundings from a cozy spot! In his previous home, he was known to show off his friendly, affectionate nature. He has a playful side too, which comes out when he sees a wand toy! If you’d like to give this shy boy a chance to blossom in your home, visit his profile to learn more!

Nocturne

A black cat perched on furniture

All Nocturne asks for is to be spoiled! She loves being the center of attention, especially when that means getting lots of head scratches and pets. It’s hard to say no to this charming, cuddly lady. Check out Nocturne’s profile to find out how to adopt her!

Suzie Q

A white dog being pet

This wonderful pup has the most soulful gaze. Suzie Q is a gentle lady with a huge heart! She’s content simply spending time with her people, but she always enjoys a good, long walk. She walks well on leash, checking in with her person along the way. She’ll do anything for a tasty treat, too! To learn more about Suzie Q, visit her profile!

Hudson

A brown tabby cat looking at twine

You are sure to fall in love with Hudson right away! He adores people and getting affection, always ready for cuddle time. When it’s playtime, he’ll happily chase after a string toy, but he’s also content to spend the day lounging around. Are you looking for a comforting feline companion? Hudson may be your purr-fect match!

Mister

A white and brown cat sitting on a desk

Mister truly believes that age is just a number! You’ll believe it too when you see his playful side, eagerly chasing after a laser pointer. Afterwards, he’ll be ready for a nice nap or keeping an eye on the neighborhood by the window. Mister could be the independent kitty you’ve been looking for! Learn more on his profile.

If you don’t live near the tri-state area, but you would still like to celebrate Adopt a Senior Pet Month with us, you can meet more adoptable pets at your local shelter. You can also visit our friends at Animal Care Centers of NYC or the Los Angeles County’s Animal Care Centers!

If you aren’t ready to adopt right now, you can still make a major impact by becoming a foster caregiver! Fostering helps senior animals like these get a break from the shelter and blossom in a home. You can foster for the ASPCA in Columbus, OhioNew York CityLos Angeles (cat fosters only) and Weaverville, North Carolina (dog fosters only)!
