Last Friday marked the ASPCA’s seventh annual Cat Friday adoption event, and we are thrilled to announce that the results were monumental: one hundred cats found safe and loving homes at the fee-waived adoption event, and three dogs were also adopted! Held every year on Black Friday, Cat Friday encourages shoppers to skip the department stores and instead use this day to open their homes and hearts to animals in need.

“The record-breaking success of ASPCA Cat Friday reflects how deep commitment from both a compassionate community and animal welfare professionals can come together to help animals in need,” said Matt Bershadker, President and CEO of the ASPCA. “Thanks to hard work and big hearts, more than 100 at-risk New York City cats who began that day in our shelter ended it in safe and loving homes.”

In addition to all of the hard work put forth by the ASPCA Adoption Center team members, this year’s success was made possible by Subaru of America, Inc. as a part of their Subaru Share the Love Event. Throughout the month of December, participating Subaru retailers will continue to hold events like this across the nation to encourage adoption during the holiday season.

We hope that this record-breaking number of adoptions will inspire more people to give back to animals in need this holiday season and year-round. See some of the highlights below from this exciting event!
