After a Lifesaving, Cross-Country Transport, These Dogs Are Ready to Be Adopted!

Last November, in response to the North Hangar Fire in Tustin, California, the ASPCA partnered with OC Animal Care (OCAC) to fly approximately 100 shelter dogs to our Cruelty Recovery Center (CRC) in Columbus, Ohio. Due to the fire, the OCAC faced challenges like flare-ups and structural damage, which prevented them from safely bringing their dogs outside for exercise and playtime. By relocating these dogs to the CRC, which is dedicated to the recovery of animals rescued from cruelty, neglect and disasters like this, we ensured they could continue receiving the love and care they needed.

Now that they’ve settled in, these pups are ready to find loving homes! The affectionate, adorable dogs below, and even more, are all available for adoption at the CRC. You can also help find them homes by sharing this blog on social media or with someone you know!

Gemma

placeholder

Gorgeous Gemma can’t wait to make your acquaintance! She’s an energetic girl who would love to go on adventures with you, and she’s always eager to work on her training, too. She’s super food motivated, which helps hold her attention! If you think you’re the special adopter she’s been looking for, please visit her profile to learn more!

Cheyenne

placeholder

Once you meet her, you’ll agree that Cheyenne is a real sweetheart! This confident girl loves to snuggle and play, especially with other dogs. She does play a bit rowdy, so she’d likely do best in an adult household. If you’re looking for an affectionate goofball, look no further! Apply to adopt Cheyenne by visiting her profile.

Daphne

placeholder

Sweet Daphne is known for her full-body wiggles and tail wags! If you work from home, she’s the perfect officemate, as she’s happy to just curl up by your feet. When it’s time to give her attention, she’ll happily give you kisses! She does prefer people over other dogs, so she’d do best as the only dog in a home. Are you interested in learning more about this affectionate pup? Check out Daphne’s profile!

Roberto

placeholder

Roberto is truly a photogenic hunk of a dog! He loves to work on his training and pose for a treat. He’s a pretty strong guy, so his ideal adopter would be able to handle him on walks. He does like to play with other dogs, so long as they don’t mind his vocalizing—he’s talkative when he’s excited! If you think Roberto is the fun-loving companion you’ve been waiting for, visit his profile to apply for adoption!

If these dogs aren’t the paw-fect match for your family, there are other dogs available for adoption at the CRC and at several of our partner shelters. You can find more of these wonderful dogs at CHA Animal Shelter and Columbus Humane in Columbus, Ohio, Rescue Village in Novelty, Ohio, and Greenville Humane Society in Greenville, South Carolina!

If you don’t live in the Ohio or South Carolina areas, but you’re still interested in adopting a wonderful pet, there are many more dogs and cats available at our locations in Weaverville, North Carolina, New York City and Los Angeles. You can also check out your local shelter or visit our friends at Animal Care Centers of NYC!

If you aren’t ready to adopt right now, but you’re able to care for a dog or cat in your home temporarily, you can still help animals in need by becoming a foster caregiver! You can foster for the ASPCA in Columbus, Ohio, Weaverville, North Carolina, New York City and Los Angeles (cat fosters only).
