We truly cannot express how proud we are of Foxie! This lovely older gal came to us from another shelter where, frankly, she wasn’t having the best time. She was understandably very nervous when we first met her, but with time and love from ASPCA staff, Foxie has absolutely blossomed in our care. She’s shown us that she is a truly wonderful dog, and we can’t wait for her to find a safe and loving home!

Big fan of: Play and naps! Foxie is the type of girl who walks the line perfectly between a dog you can have tons of fun with and a dog you can snuggle up with. Give Foxie any and every type of toy and she’ll be one happy lady! Put the toys away and pull out a few blankets instead, and Foxie is sure to be just as excited. Foxie’s had the pleasure of snuggling up with piles and piles of blankets while spending time in a staff member’s office, so we know that her love of comfy bedding and naps is a fact! When Foxie decides it’s time to wake up and stretch her legs, she can often be found out for a walk with her people. “She’s been a breeze to walk,” reports an ASPCA staff member, and once she’s back inside she wants nothing more than love, scratches and kisses!

Working on: Sharing with people and greeting them nicely! Foxie’s previous family reported that she was uncomfortable when people approached her while she had food, chews or toys. We haven’t seen Foxie display this behavior at all during her time in the shelter, but her new family should still keep an eye on her body language and offer trades when things need to be taken. Her previous family also noted that Foxie would bark or growl at strangers when they approached her home but was friendly once they actually entered. So, Foxie would love a person who can help her remember that polite greetings go a long way!

Dream home: Foxie would make a great fit for most families! Living with small kids, cats or other dogs may be new to Foxie, so our Matchmakers would be happy to speak with interested adopters about how to set her up for success in any new home.
