Everyone loves a long-haired kitty, but we think Alfalfa is extra-special as he starts to show his personality under all that fur! When Alfalfa—affectionately nicknamed Alfie by his foster caregiver—first arrived at the ASPCA with his best friend Fennel, he was incredibly shy, hiding in the very back of his box and fleeing from anyone who moved to pet him. After getting lots of patient love and tasty treats from the ASPCA Behavior team, Alfalfa has begun to cautiously let his guard down! Over time this kitty has discovered that he has a huge love of comfy pillows, and he can often be found lounging on one—especially when it’s in a safe, cozy nook. In his current foster home, Alfalfa prefers to spend most of his time relaxing under the bed rather than out in the open, or on a cool surface like the bathroom tile. He feels much more confident when he can follow Fennel’s lead, and they can often be found play-wrestling together!

Alfalfa needs an adopter who understands that he will need confinement and time—likely several weeks or more—to settle into his new home and that he may always be somewhat shy, especially around guests. Small kids are too much for this sensitive boy, so a home with teens and up would be best. Because he does much better when he’s with his friend Fennel, they must go home together.
