Los Angeles Initiative

Since 2014, we’ve worked alongside community partners, including municipal shelters, rescue groups, spay/neuter providers, and other mission-aligned groups, to support animals in underserved areas of Los Angeles, expand access to veterinary care, support vulnerable animals and families, and advance animal welfare policies across California.

Building on that commitment, the ASPCA joined forces with LA Animal Services and Best Friends Animal Society in a first-of-its-kind, multi-year $14 million initiative to strengthen and enhance services across Los Angeles’ municipal shelter system. Together, the organizations will improve care for shelter animals, help more pets find homes, and expand community support to keep families and their pets together.

By combining funding, expertise and on-the-ground support, this partnership is designed to deliver immediate improvements and create a more effective and sustainable shelter system for years to come.
