Sousaphone

If you've always wanted a bulldog with a world-class nap game, an obsession with plush toys and enough personality to keep you laughing every day, allow us to introduce Sousaphone.

Sousaphone is the definition of a professional lounger. Her favorite place is curled up in a cozy bed, preferably with one of her beloved stuffed animals tucked under her chin while she happily suckles on it like a giant puppy (or honestly, a cat in a bulldog suit). It's one of her sweetest little quirks, and everyone who meets her falls in love with it.

When she's not perfecting her nap schedule, Sous is busy making friends. She's been on multiple overnight sleepovers where she charmed absolutely everyone she met. She loves cuddling on the couch, sleeping in bed with her people, riding in the car, meeting new friends and soaking up all the attention she can get. She's had success not having accidents during her overnight stays, walks beautifully on leash (sometimes almost too beautifully — if she's decided she's walked far enough, she'll simply let you know she'd rather head back home), and even tackles elevators like a seasoned pro.

One of our favorite things about Sous is watching her during the summer. Give this girl a kiddie pool, and she's in heaven. She'll happily plop herself down in the water and supervise the neighborhood like it's her full-time job. It's impossible not to smile watching her splash around.

Sous has participated in over 50 playgroups with other dogs and has consistently shown herself to be a gentle, goofy playmate who enjoys bouncing around with canine friends. Like many dogs who may not have had many belongings before coming into our care, she's become pretty attached to the good stuff. She prefers to enjoy her meals, favorite toys and especially her beloved kiddie pool without sharing them with other dogs. Because of this, she'll do best with a family that can simply give her special treasures their own space.

Sousaphone has had a few medical bumps along the way, but she's feeling great these days. She previously underwent surgery to help her breathe more comfortably and has recovered beautifully, making it much easier for her to enjoy everyday life. She also has a congenital cleft palate that doesn't currently cause her any problems and doesn't require surgery. Like many bulldogs, she has some mild joint changes, so she's currently taking a joint supplement, staying on a healthy weight-loss journey and takes Apoquel to help keep her skin comfortable. She gets around well and enjoys her walks. We recommend her new family keeps her at a healthy weight and continues her joint support to help her stay comfortable for years to come.

Wrapped up in the cutest blue merle coat with striking blue and white markings, Sous is every bit as adorable on the outside as she is on the inside. She's silly, snuggly, wonderfully stubborn in the most bulldog way possible and ready to find a family that appreciates slow mornings, cozy naps and lots of laughter.
