Macaroni

Macaroni is a beautiful little tortie with the cutest orange toes, an adorable orange chin and a personality that gets sweeter as you get to know her. She’s a cautious girl at first, but underneath that initial hesitation is a curious, food-motivated sweetheart who is just waiting to decide that you’re her person.

When you first meet Macaroni, she may keep a little distance while she checks you out. She’s curious enough to come inspect you, though! She’ll quietly hang out nearby, watch what you’re doing and take her time deciding whether she’s ready for some attention. Touch is definitely something she prefers to have a say in, especially with new people.

There is one thing that can make Macaroni feel much braver: lickable treats! This girl is very food motivated. Bring out a squeeze-up and suddenly she's ready to make friends. She may not be quite ready for you to reach out and pet her at first, but she has no problem coming right over for a treat. And once she realizes that pets are pretty great too, she can surprise you with just how affectionate she really is.

One of her favorite staff members recently brought a lickable treat into her kennel and sat down on the floor with her. Macaroni immediately came over, stepping right onto their lap several times for her snack. After just a minute, she started leaning into pets instead of moving away. When the treat was gone, she kept coming back for attention anyway! Within minutes, she was purring on their lap, rolling and rubbing against them, kneading happily and eventually curled up for a little nap with her face tucked into their hand.

That's the magic of Macaroni. Give her a little time, let her approach at her own pace, and you may find that the cautious kitty you met at first is actually a total cuddle bug.

Macaroni is still learning about toys, but she's wonderfully curious about them and especially enjoys interactive electric toys. She has also done well sharing space with other cats in our care, so a friendly feline roommate could be a great fit.

Macaroni isn't looking for someone who expects instant affection. She's looking for someone who will enjoy getting to know her, respect her boundaries and celebrate those little moments when she decides to come a little closer. And trust us, those moments are pretty special.
