Ready to Change Laws and Save Lives? Become a District Captain!
Congresswoman Jackie Speier with a volunteer at the annual Paws for Celebration event in Washington, D.C.
The ASPCA District Captain program is a special opportunity for key advocates to take a leadership position in the animal welfare community and fight for animals in a hands-on way.
District Captains will be involved in organizing and connecting other advocates in their area, meeting with legislators, writing letters to the editor, and volunteering with the ASPCA Government Relations team to help coordinate events, connect local volunteers, organize advocacy efforts, and promote social media campaigns!
Most District Captain activities can be carried out from home and within your community, though travel in your state may be requested on occasion as part of a volunteer opportunity. We will stay in touch with you about upcoming issues and keep you informed about volunteer activities in your community. We will also connect you with other advocates looking to volunteer in your community.
Here's what our ASPCA District Captains are saying about the program:

“I love being a District Captain because I am able to be a voice for the animals. I am thrilled to be a part of such an amazing team of animal advocates with the ASPCA." -- Kim, Henderson, NV
“I serve because I want to prevent future suffering of America’s animals through stronger legislation.“ -- Suzanne, Fleetwood, PA
“I feel great about my role in the District Captain program because I’m able to help other like-minded constituents connect with our representatives in the hopes that they make the right choices concerning the welfare of animals.” -- Shaun, Roseland, NJ
