Thor

Thor is here to save the day! A dog with a spirit a tad gentler than his namesake, Thor is ready to find his partner in crime. The perfect person? Someone who can give him lots of playtime, lives in a low-traffic area and can help him gain the outdoor confidence he needs to live up to his name!

Big fan of: People! Thor is truly a sweet dog who enjoys the company of everyone he meets. No matter whether you’re a friend or a stranger, Thor is sure to greet you one of two ways—either with a big smile or with sad puppy-dog eyes to ask for pets! If your hands aren’t busy giving Thor lots of scratches, they’re guaranteed to be busy holding a toy. Thor absolutely adores playtime, and his antics are sometimes so goofy and funny that they’re hard to describe—but they’re sure to get a laugh. The only thing that may make playtime a little more fun for Thor is if there are other dogs in the mix! So far, Thor has been loving his time in doggy playgroup!

Working on: His confidence outside! Thor loves going for sniffy walks, but some of the loud and scary sounds that come along with New York City life—like the backup beeping on trucks, for example--can be a little scary for him, causing Thor to occasionally try to flee. Thor can also be a little sensitive to some handling, especially when it comes to veterinary visits. Lots of yummy treats to help Thor acclimate to both loud sounds and handling, as well as some professional training, would go a long way with this handsome boy!

Dream home: Because the busy 92nd St area of Manhattan seems like it’s too much for Thor, he’s looking for a new home in a more low-traffic area. Interested adopters who live in busy neighborhoods must have experience with dogs who have shown similar outside behaviors to Thor. Cats and children may be new for him, but he’s done great in playgroup and may enjoy living with another friendly pup!
