The best way to describe Sanibel is “a gentle soul”! This pup has a shy exterior that, when you first meet her, compels you to kneel down and call her over with a soft voice. But, put a little time—and a few treats—into gaining her trust, and Sanibel will soon start calling you her best friend.
Big fan of: Her favorite people! Sanibel can be a little nervous in new places and around strangers. But, give her a few moments and you can physically see Sanibel start to become more comfortable and outgoing. She goes from keeping her body low to standing tall, and from walking tentatively to zooming around! When she’s happy and feeling good, Sanibel also loves showing off what might be the world’s biggest smile. And, when Sanibel catches a glimpse of someone she’s deemed a friend, she confidently runs over with a that huge grin and a tail wagging a mile per minute! A big fan of pets and scratches, Sanibel may even get up-close-and-personal by pressing her entire body into you to ask for some love.
Working on: Her confidence! Sanibel is a gentle girl who, so far, has been pretty overwhelmed at the Adoption Center—especially since it comes with meeting lots of new people all the time. She’s definitely a reserved dog—and that’s who she is! Treats, toys and lots of love always help this sweet girl come out of her shell and show her fun side. But, just because she’s a little shy doesn’t mean she’s always scared! When it comes walking along the big city streets, Sanibel has no problem. She even makes sure to keep looking back at the human walking her to make sure they’re having fun, too!
Dream home: Sanibel is a sensitive soul and would do best in a quiet home with teens and up. Her adopter should understand that she will need time and patience as she adjusts to her new home. If you think Sanibel may be your match, come meet her today!
