Could you be the person for Bucky? Underneath all that Pomeranian fluff is a dog with a defined personality. Bucky is super loving when he wants to be, a little talkative at times and more than ready to find a person who’s willing to take the cues from him!
Big fan of: Laps! Bucky was reported by his previously family to be a little shy around some people, but at the ASPCA Adoption Center he’s wanted nothing more than to cozy up with our staff members. Bucky is a huge fan of lap time--so much that he can often be found not in his kennel, but instead hanging out on top of our Matchmakers at their desks! And we think that Bucky may want to join in on the work, too. He’s been known to use his voice when he’s excited and would probably be great at contributing to our phone consults with potential adopters! He especially loves to talk when it’s time to go outside—because who doesn’t love going for walks?
Working on: Letting people know when he doesn’t want to be pet. Bucky is the type of guy who really enjoys physical affection, so long as it’s in small doses and on his terms! Particularly, Bucky doesn’t love being touched when it involves nail trims or medical handling—or frankly, when he just isn’t feeling being scratched. When he’d rather his people and doctors be hands-off Bucky gives clear warning by showing his teeth and getting tense, and sometimes he’ll give you a quick little nip. But trust us—better a dog give warnings than give nothing at all! Bucky can also get a little overexcited at times and is learning to reign it all in. With people he can get a little mouthy with their hands, and when seeing dogs outside he tends to bark at them. But trust us, all his little quirks are much outweighed by his cuteness!
Dream home: Bucky would benefit from a person who has some experience with dogs like him! Because small kids may not understand when, where and how he prefers to be pet, a home with teens and up would be perfect. If you’re thinking about adopting Bucky as a friend for your current dog, our staff would love to help with an introduction—so just let us know!
