Slow and steady—that’s how you win the race with Otter Pop. 2020 has been a tough year for this girl, but love and dedication from a great foster caregiver have helped Otter Pop remember that the world is a pretty okay place! As a cat who can be nervous around new people and in new places, Otter Pop will likely need time and confinement to settle into any new home. Once she starts to feel comfortable, you’ll know. Otter Pop enjoys attention on her terms and asks for gentle pets by rubbing up against her foster’s legs and then pausing as if to say, “okay, I’m ready now!” Even if she isn’t in the mood for scratches, Otter Pop enjoys keeping an eye on her humans and can often be found somewhere in the same room—especially if the TV is on. According to her foster, Otter Pop plops herself down on the sofa when it’s time for binge-watching, so she’s definitely your girl if you’re looking for a Netflix buddy! Otter Pop also seems to be a big fan of human beds, sometimes sleeping with the foster and other times jumping up in the morning to hang out and get pets. Otherwise, Otter Pop is perfectly content hanging out in sunny windowsills, rolling in some catnip or finding tiny, strange things to make into toys—for example, small scraps of cardboard on the floor!

Otter Pop is a special girl who is looking for a special adopter. Just like people, kitties also sometimes have changes to their health as they get older. Otter Pop has chronic kidney disease, which isn’t uncommon in older cats. She will need to continue her special prescription diet in her new home, and our Matchmakers would be happy to speak with potential adopters about how to manage this condition. Otter Pop would do best in a quiet home with an adopter who understands and appreciates the fact that she may always be somewhat shy—it’s just who she is! Because kids may not understand her body language and when she’d like some space, Otter Pop would prefer teens and up.
