Marchena

Meet Marchena! When we first met this handsome man back in early October, it was clear that he wasn’t used to being around people. Whenever someone came to greet Marchena he would hide, hiss or growl. Now, Marchena is a totally different cat! After spending some time in a foster home, he’s realized that life with humans is pretty great. Marchena needed time to settle into his foster home—and will need time to settle into an adoptive home, too—but once he began to feel comfortable, Marchena blossomed. If there’s one thing Marchena has discovered, it’s his love for playtime! In particular, he loves showing off his acrobatic skills while leaping into the air and trying to catch a wand toy. He also loves showing off just how fast he can run while chasing after tossed treats. Marchena loves playtime so much that when he doesn’t get enough, he’s sure to show you and tell you—so, he needs a family who can provide him with lots of games and toys! Luckily, Marchena’s foster is happy to pass along some of his favorite toys and items. Marchena also loves getting pets, falling asleep in his humans’ laps, greeting people at the door, lounging in drawers and trying to steal his people’s food when they’re not looking. Marchena’s foster caregivers said it best when they stated that he “likes to be the center of attention” and is “the sweetest cat [they’ve] encountered.”

Marchena would do best with an adopter who has some experience with cats like him and understands that it will take time for him to settle in before showing his true colors. Because Marchena is still learning how to play appropriately with people, a home with kids ages eight and up would probably be best.
