Meet our boy Burt! Described by his previous owner as “special” and “a great cat,” this sensitive kitty tends to be pretty nervous around new people and in new places. Give him some love and time—and make sure to use a slow approach—and Burt begins to slowly show slivers of his true personality. Let him come to you, and you can start to see Burt for who he truly is—a loving kitty. With a preference for attention on his terms, Burt likes to set the pace of his relationship with people before officially jumping into friend territory. Once he’s comfortable, Burt can sometimes be found following his favorite people around or plunking down in their laps for some R&R. He appreciates gentle scratches around the face and leans lightly into your hands to ask for more!

Burt is looking for a special adopter who can see past his shy exterior and help him bring his true self out. He would do best in a quiet home with teens and up and has previously lived well with dogs and other cats. Burt will likely take some time settling into his new home, and our Matchmakers would be happy to speak with interested adopters how to help him acclimate successfully!
