5 years
Alfred is a special guy, and thus has the privilege of being an office foster! Having come to the ASPCA from a tough situation, Alfred was incredibly shy and scared when he first arrived. He still tends to be pretty nervous around new people and in new places, but he’s made great progress during his stay at the ASPCA. Let Alfred set the pace and take things on his terms, and with time, patience and a few toys and treats you can start to see that he has a fun, sweet side hiding just underneath that shy exterior! Once Alfred feels comfortable you’ll know it because he lets his obsession with toys be seen! Alfred can never say no to a good game. To say he absolutely adores wand toys may be an understatement—but don’t worry, he also has an affinity for going after toy mice, chasing ball toys and batting at those circle track toys. Sometimes Alfred gets so enthralled with his games he can even be found rolling onto his back! When it comes to people, Alfred is a little more hesitant. He’s still learning that humans bring good things and that pets and scratches can be enjoyable. But, don’t think that means he doesn’t like you! Once Alfred considers you a friend it’s clear. According to his office foster parent, Alfred never lets her out of his sight. Whether that means following her around when she’s up or sprawling across her desk while she’s working, Alfred likes to keep an eye on his buddies.
Alfred is looking for an adopter who understands that he will likely need several weeks to settle into is new home and that he may always be somewhat shy. He should go home with a person who has previous cat experience and lives in a quiet home with kids ages 14 and up. Think Alfred might be your man? Call and ask how you can meet him today!
Office Foster Cat
As part of our adoption program, some of our feline friends have the opportunity to live in ASPCA team members' offices. Living in an office allows cats to have a more comfortable and domestic living space, and allows our behaviorists to learn more about each individual kitty's personality and needs. Through the office foster program, we are able to offer adopters a clearer picture of how their new feline friend will adjust to life in a permanent home. If you are interested in meeting one of our office foster cats, please first call our Adoptions department at (212) 876-7700 ext. 4120. Our team will provide you with more information about meeting this cat.
