Who knew kalamatas could be so sweet? As charming and handsome as they come, you can’t help but fall in love with Kalamata. This gentle soul went through a lot before coming to the ASPCA Adoption Center, and he is still learning how to be the cool and confident dog he was always meant to be. He’s making strides, but still needs a hand to get there. If you think that you could be the one to help this lovable guy, come meet Kalamata and get a taste of his loving personality today!

Big fan of: Treats! Kalamata is a bit wary of new people, but as his name might suggest the way to Kalamata’s heart is through his stomach. But it’s not olives he’s particularly fond of—Kalamata has a more refined palette and prefers high-end foods like hot dogs! Once he considers you a friend, Kalamata becomes the sweetest boy. He’ll happily trot right along by your side while out on a walk and will enjoy plenty of gentle pets and scratches!

Special features: Kalamata is working hard on bringing his confident side out! He’s still a little hesitant around strangers and when being leashed up for a walk, but give him some treats and he’s easily convinced. Once Kalamata is outside his fearless side really shines! While he can walk next to other dogs, Kalamata prefers to keep his canine social circle limited. He is not a dog park dog and should be the only pup in the house.

Dream home: Kalamata needs an adopter who can help him become more comfortable around new people and in new places. He’d be a great family dog and can live with children of any age!
