These Senior Animals Are Aged to Perfection!
While we are excited that November kicks off the holiday season, we are even more excited that November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month! Senior pets may have a few more birthday candles than their younger counterparts, but they are just as cute and loveable, and make great pets! In fact, senior pets may even be more suitable to your lifestyle—they just need someone to give them a chance.
There are quite a few overlooked advantages to adopting a senior pet.
- They are already set in their ways with their own personality, meaning you can likely find a senior who has all the traits you’re looking for.
- Older pets have likely grown out of their childish behavior like teething, destructive behavior and accidents in the house—no constant monitoring or training for you!
- Mature pets are more likely to settle into the home quicker as they may have previous experience of living in a home among people and other pets.
- Though they say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, older pets can absolutely learn new skills! Some may even have some basic training and know commands like “sit” or “down.”
Have we convinced you yet? If so, and you’re in the tri-state area and ready to open your heart and home to a senior pet, take a look below at some of our adoptable senior animals! Not from the tri-state area? Find a shelter near you to find your senior furry friend!
