Once a Stray Foster Kitten, Ricochet Brings Comfort to People and Pets

Tiffany and Ricochet

In July 2014, Ricochet was one of seven stray newborn kittens that were relinquished to the ASPCA Animal Hospital after being rescued by a Good Samaritan. It was there that she met Tiffany, a Vet Tech at the Hospital since 2010, who began fostering Ricochet and her brother shortly thereafter.

“I immediately fell in love with her,” Tiffany recalls. One night, Ricochet’s brother became very sick and had to be rushed to the Emergency Room; sadly, he didn’t make it. “After her brother passed, I promised her that she would never be alone again,” she says. True to her word, Tiffany adopted Ricochet after her spay operation.

In the years since, the pair’s bond has only grown deeper. “On top of being my first foster, she was also my first pet that wasn’t shared with the rest of my family,” Tiffany tells us.

Ricochet is also an emotional support animal.

“She definitely gets me out of bed every morning. She cuddles, she’s good to have around—I can see why a lot of hospitals have animals coming in to play. They just bring up your spirits and joy wherever they are,” she smiles.

Ricochet

Tiffany continues to foster kittens, and Ricochet is very helpful. She loves playing with them and teaching them how to use the litter box, and she also grooms them when they’ve made a mess. Tiffany says, “She loves her little friends, but is always happy when they find new homes and it’s just us. We saved each other.”

In addition to being a comforting companion for Tiffany, Ricochet is also one of the many animals featured in the 2017 ASPCA Special Edition Calendar.

The ASPCA Calendar includes heartwarming photographs and success stories of animals, like Ricochet, who have been adopted by our team.
