Hi new pet parent!

My name is Skateboard, but my friends call me Skatie or Skatertot. I’m SO excited to finally meet you! I’ve been waiting for this day for a really long time, and I’m so glad it’s YOU.

Seeing as you’re going to be my new favorite person in the world, there’s a few things I want you to know about me—I’ve heard best friends tell each other everything!

To give you some background on how I became the truly amazing—and clearly humble—dog I am today, I have to start off with my sad beginnings. I was rescued in 2021 from a suspected cruelty and was pretty terrified. I was brought to the lovely people at the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center (BRC) in Weaverville, North Carolina, where I have been able to heal from my past and learn that new people, places and things aren’t so scary after all!

Despite my ruff start, I am one exuberant, goofy pup who refuses to let anyone keep me down! I’ve been living with my foster family for quite some time now and I get to do all my favorite things like play with other dogs—doggie friends make my tail wag really fast! I also get to snuggle with my favorite people—and hopefully get some scratches too—and chew on my toys. Basically, life has been great—I’m so much happier than before! But as much as I adore my foster family, I’m ready to find my person and a home all my own, which is why I’m so glad you found me.

I can get a bit nervous sometimes, so I’m happy you’re so patient with me and will let me take things slow as I adjust to my new surroundings. I love hanging out indoors and use my pee pads really well, but the outdoors are a bit scarier for me still. Walking outside can be a little overwhelming and I’m still learning to go potty out there and need some help from my new bestie. But with your love and support, I can accomplish anything!

Since I enjoy playing with other dogs so much, I would love to have a canine BFF in my new home. And I’d be really happy to have lots of chew toys and my favorite treat, cheddar cheese, readily available. They call me the naptime champion over here at the BRC so I’m looking forward to curling up with you on the couch for a little relaxation.

I just can’t believe this is finally happening—my dreams are coming true! So let’s make it official, email [email protected] to submit an inquiry today!

See you soon!
XOXO,
Skatie

I'm also on TikTok, check out my video!

@aspca Seven-year-old Skateboard is truly resilient! She was rescued from a suspected dog fighting operation and doesn't let her unfortunate past hold her back. She is very sweet and playful, especially if she has a fellow canine friend to help her confidence. It might take a second for her to feel comfortable in new situations, but soon she will show her true personality and beg you for scratches and snuggles. Could you offer her the peace and comfort of a loving home?
