It's National Volunteer Week! Here's How You Can Help Animals in Need

Great news: This week not only marks our 150th anniversary, but also offers a very special opportunity to get involved and help animals in your community. National Volunteer Week, which runs from April 10-16, is the perfect time to make a difference. Here are three ways you can help:

Volunteer at your local shelter or animal rescue organization. Shelters and animal rescue groups across the country are in desperate need of volunteers to help out with tasks as diverse as walking dogs, organizing events, and fostering animals. Visit our Adopt section to locate an organization in your area.

Host a pet food and supplies drive. Animal shelters are always in need of basic supplies that can be found around your home or at your local grocery or discount store including food, towels and bedding, cleaning supplies, toys and other pet care supplies. Consider hosting a supplies drive to gather items from your friends and family members to donate.

Join the ASPCA Advocacy Brigade. Help fight for the passage of stronger anti-cruelty laws on federal, state and local levels by joining the ASPCA Advocacy Brigade As a Brigade member, you’ll have the opportunity to help pass important legislation for animals within your region.
