UPDATE: August 29: Shots of our disaster response team continuing to prep boats for potential rescue efforts in the aftermath of Harvey.

The ASPCA’s disaster response team is on the ground with search-and-rescue, sheltering and relocation teams ready to assist displaced animals in this historic weather event affecting Texas and Louisiana. Hurricane Harvey has been downgraded to an active tropical storm, but the unprecedented rainfall and flooding continues, requiring emergency shelter for tens of thousands of residents and their pets.

Emergency response agencies are receiving a high number of requests for assistance, and are conducting responsible assessments to determine where resources can be utilized most effectively.

The ASPCA stands ready to assist where our resources can have the most impact in saving lives and helping to reunite pets with their families. Residents who need assistance with recovering a pet from their home or emergency sheltering for their pets are encouraged to contact their local emergency management agency.

Please give a donation today to support the ASPCA’s life-saving work, including emergency response efforts like this.
