ASPCA Awards $250,000+ with Fund to End Factory Farming Grants in 2026
- The ASPCA’ s Fund to End Factory Farming is supporting five projects across the country demonstrating the serious risks factory farming poses to people, animals and our food system.
- Grantees have been awarded $250,051 for their transformative projects this year.
- The Fund to End Factory Farming was established in 2022 and continues to support bold ideas that ensure a safe and abundant food supply and more humane farming practices.
Five innovative projects have been selected for the 2026 ASPCA Fund to End Factory Farming. Since 2022, the fund has supported projects that demonstrate the many benefits of more humane farming practices.
The Fund to End Factory Farming was formed to support bold ideas for moving away from factory farming and toward more humane alternatives. This year, funded projects challenge the myth that industrial agriculture ensures a safe and abundant food supply.
What the evidence shows: Far from guaranteeing a stable food supply, factory farming is increasingly linked to serious, far-reaching risks to food safety, rural economies, the well-being of farmers and other workers within this system, and of course, animals.
The following five projects were awarded a total of $250,051 in ASPCA grant funding this year:
Iowa Food System Coalition
The coalition, through fiscal sponsor Iowa Farmers Union Education Fund, who received the ASPCA grant, will showcase how pasture-based farms support Iowa's local economies and rural communities. Materials include interactive maps, reports and podcasts.
Dakota Resource Council
Local opposition to proposed factory farms in communities throughout North Dakota will get much needed attention. Widely shared studies, public reports and media will demonstrate the risks factory farms pose to rural communities and local environments.
State Innovation Exchange
U.S. policymakers will be better equipped to increase funding opportunities for pasture-based farming in their home regions thanks to pasture-based farm visits, policy workshops and data.
Socially Responsible Agriculture Project
The Grower Storytelling Initiative will gather and disseminate interviews with former factory farm contract growers — independent farmers who operate under a legal agreement with a larger processing company or corporation. Their testimonies about working in and leaving the factory farming system will reach lawmakers, media and fellow farmers.
Nebraska Communities United
The project will use research to show Nebraskans the environmental and personal costs of industrial agriculture and build support for independent, sustainable farming.
Congratulations to all grantees! These projects will contribute to the growing body of evidence that a safe and abundant food supply rests in the hands of empowered farmers, communities, consumers and policy leaders.
