In partnership with the ASPCA, Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) has remained committed to reducing the number of animals found in shelters and increasing the number of adoptions. Since 2005, ACC has made progress year-over-year, and in 2016, we saw record-breaking numbers. This success has continued into the new year, and ACC has no plans of slowing down any time soon.

The first few months of 2017 have been nothing short of incredible for ACC. To-date, the estimated placement rate is 94%—an exceptional feat!

Here is a brief look at some of ACC’s key progress since 2005:

  • There has been an 87% decrease in euthanasia
  • 1,173 animals were prevented from entering a shelter in 2016 alone
  • In 2016, ACC had an 89% placement rate

Overall, intake into ACC shelters has decreased, meaning that fewer stray or surrendered animals are entering shelters each year. This, coupled with the 12.8% increase in placements, signifies a positive trend resulting from the hard work of everyone involved at ACC.

ACC growth over time

The ASPCA is proud to be a dedicated partner of ACC. Their continued support and efforts to enhance the welfare of New York City’s animals is truly outstanding. We look forward to continuing to work together, and to save even more lives in the years to come.
