Adoption Spotlight: Resilient Pup Caitlyn is Looking for a Home!

When we first met Caitlyn, a 9-year-old Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix, she had sadly been experiencing a life of neglect. She, along with five other dogs, were found abandoned in a van in Brooklyn. Caitlyn was filthy and suffering from stomach and vision issues. She was also suffering from extreme fear after living in such a stressful environment. After receiving medical treatment, she was adopted and returned a few days later after getting loose from her family. A few months later, she was sent to the ASPCA’s Behavioral Rehabilitation Center in Madison, New Jersey, where she spent four months working with ASPCA behavior counselors to overcome her fear of unfamiliar people, objects, sounds and situations.

Caitlyn graduated from the Rehab Center in June and is still looking for a family. She can be shy around new people, but once she comes out of her shell, Caitlyn is very sweet and gentle and loves the company of her closest friends. She is looking for an experienced adopter in a quiet household—preferably in a suburban or rural neighborhood. Caitlyn would get along well with a confident canine companion, and she can live harmoniously with cats. A fenced yard where she can bask in the sun would be paradise for her.

This sweet dog has overcome so much, and she can’t wait to find her forever home. If you are in the New Jersey area and would like to adopt Caitlyn, please email our Rehab Center at [email protected], or call (973) 377-5609. Can’t adopt right now? Please share this post with your family and friends—with your help, we’ll find Caitlyn a home for the holidays.
