Lewis
Meet Lewis! Lewis is a very special kitty looking for a very special adopter to love him for who he is! We met this handsome guy back in April when he was found as a stray, and he is finally ready to flop right into the heart of an adopter.
Lewis displays clinical signs consistent with a congenital defect such as spina bifida. While his back legs might wobble, that doesn't stop this curious boy from scaling cat tree mountains, wrestling the fiercest blankets and battling the elusive feather wand. To be frank, Lewis has quite a few conditions that will need to be attended to, but all the love and care you pour into this special guy is sure to come back to you tenfold!
Lewis is very social, though it does take him a little while to warm up to new people. He is very playful and loves feather wands, crunchy balls, sparkle balls, feather mice and cat tunnels. Lewis can definitely be a lap kitten and is very snuggly, but he does like to have his own space for sleeping. He absolutely loves burrowing in blankets when he wants to get cozy!
Lewis is a surprisingly adventurous climber and jumper despite his handicaps—which speaks to his resiliency and good nature! Because of this however, he will need a cat-proofed home including ramps and stairs to make sure he can get around safely. Lewis also needs raised food and water dishes that stay in place, as he will wobble into his bowls and knock over his water or stick his foot in it from time to time. Lewis also requires a large flat litterbox with a shallow entrance, so it is easier for him to get in and out of, and he uses a large mat and washable pee pads under the litterbox to catch spills and accidents. Though he does his best, Lewis’ disabilities make him prone to accidents outside of the box and he will need help and understanding in this department. Potential adopters should be prepared to help Lewis express his bladder with cat-approved baby wipes a couple times a day as a maintenance technique to prevent him from urinating outside the litterbox. Since Lewis tends to have accidents on occasion, he does best being set up in a large comfy crate or playpen overnight or for long stretches of time while his family is at work or out of the house.
As a special needs kitty, Lewis is looking for a loving family who will be ready to take on whatever adventures come their way. This includes supporting him with his litterbox use, supervising him while he's playing and exploring and catching him when he falls. Our Adoption team would be happy to speak to interested adopters on how to best set Lewis up for success in his new home.
Lewis is looking for an adopter to be understanding of his conditions and someone who is willing to help him where needed and one who will give him a home where his personality can continue to blossom. Most of all, Lewis wants to be loved just the way he is!
Lewis is a wonderfully unique, adventurous, sweet and goofy kitty. He is ready to wobble off to the next chapter in his story into a loving home! If you are interested in adopting our very special boy, please fill out our online adoption survey.
