Handsome Hagrid hopes you’re the muggle for him! This magical boy arrived at the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center (BRC) in December 2022, after being rescued from a rural property with many other dogs. Just like his namesake, Hagrid is a big teddy bear who enjoys hanging out with people, eating treats and chewing on a bully stick and laying on a nice, comfy bed!

Big fan of: Short walks in areas where he can explore and use his nose. Hagrid also enjoys walking up and down on ramps, stairs and platforms as long as it involves treats! He is a low-energy dog who would make a great couch potato to sit and watch your favorite movies with—perhaps that one about a magical school!

Working on: Being comfortable around other dogs. Hagrid prefers calm, quiet dogs who will respect his personal space. He has a few canine friends who he walks with. After he spends some time with his canine friends, he enjoys spending time with his people afterwards. Hagrid is a happy-go-lucky guy who can’t wait to meet his future adopter.

Dream home: Hagrid would enjoy a home—or maybe even a castle— with a fenced-in yard where he can lounge around in the sun after going on a walk in a park or neighborhood. He would love an adopter who understands that going into a home will be a new experience for him. He will need time and patience as he settles into his new life. Hagrid would likely do best as the only dog in the household.
