Delta

Meet Delta! Delta is equal parts playful sidekick and sensitive sweetheart. He originally came to the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center as a fearful dog, unsure of the world around him. Now, he’s known for his joyful play, his love of canine friends and his ability to turn even the shyest dogs into playmates. In fact, he was frequently sought out as a "helper dog" here at the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center because of his talent for bringing other dogs out of their shells.
Delta is an active dog who loves exercise and adventure. He enjoys walks, has experience as a jogging companion and never says no to a chance to stretch his legs in a fenced yard. While he has plenty of playful energy, he's not constantly "on." After getting some energy out, he's happy to settle in and relax alongside his people. Because he gets along wonderfully with other dogs, he would make a great canine companion to a resident dog who appreciates his playful style. Confident dog friends can really bring out his personality when he’s feeling uncertain!
When Delta first meets new people, he can be a little cautious. He may take some time to warm up, and he appreciates gentle, patient introductions rather than being rushed into attention. The good news? Once he feels comfortable, his affectionate, playful personality shines through. He enjoys spending time close to his people, relaxing on the couch, joining you for walks and simply being part of daily life.
Delta already knows some basic cues, walks nicely on leash, rides in the car, is doing well being crated and keeps his living space tidy. He has been described as sweet, polite, smart and eager to love and be loved.
Delta's ideal home is one that understands that confidence can take time to build. He's not the dog who instantly climbs into every stranger's lap, but for someone willing to be patient and earn his trust, the reward is a deeply loyal companion with a playful spirit and a heart of gold. If you're looking for a best friend who will happily join you on adventures, make dog friends wherever he goes and then curl up beside you at the end of the day, Delta may be your perfect match.
