ASPCA Celebrates First Shelter Dog to Reside in the White House

November 10, 2020

WASHINGTON—The ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today responded to news that President-elect Joe Biden's adopted German shepherd, Major, will become the first shelter dog to live in the White House.

“We’re thrilled the Bidens’ dog Major will be the first shelter dog ever to call the White House his home,” said Matt Bershadker, ASPCA President and CEO. “This is a wonderful opportunity for people to see how fostering and adopting animals saves lives, helps animal shelters, and brings love and joy to families.”
