These Adorable Pups Have Traveled Halfway Across the Country to Find You!

March 7, 2024

Last November, after the North Hangar Fire in Tustin, California, the ASPCA flew approximately 100 dogs from OC Animal Care (OCAC) to our Cruelty Recovery Center (CRC) in Columbus, Ohio. The dangerous air quality caused by the fire led to OCAC’s staff being unable to provide outdoor walks, exercise and playtime for these dogs. They partnered with us to help get the dogs the care they needed. The CRC is dedicated to the recovery of animals from emergency situations, natural disasters, cruelty and neglect, so our experts were happy to help OCAC in their time of need.

Though some of these transported dogs have now found loving homes, we still have quite a few lovable pals waiting for their families to find them! If you are considering bringing a new furry family member home, or know someone who is, consider one of these friendly pooches below who are all available for adoption at the CRC!

If you’re not ready to adopt but still want to help, consider sharing this post or one of these dogs’ profiles with your family and friends through social media.

Happy Wade sitting

You’ve never met a lovebug like Wade! He adores his people, and always wants to show them some love. He’s an energetic guy, so he’d prefer an active adopter who will regularly give him the exercise he needs to be the best boy. Wade can be selective with his dog friends, so meet-and-greets are required with any potential dog siblings. If you’re ready for paws-itive vibes, visit Wade’s profile today!

Relay smiling wearing bandana

Aptly named, Relay is an athletic pup who would love to go on a hike with you! He’s always ready for fun with his people and does well in our playgroup with other dogs. Tasty treats are very motivating for him, so Relay’s always excited to work on his training! Visit Relay’s profile to find out how to adopt this clever, active dog!

If these dogs aren’t the right fit for your home, there are other dogs from this lifesaving transport available for adoption at the CRC and at several of our partner shelters. You can find more of these special dogs at CHA Animal Shelter and Columbus Humane in Columbus, Ohio, Rescue Village in Novelty, Ohio, and Greenville Humane Society in Greenville, South Carolina!

If you don’t live near these shelters in Ohio or South Carolina, but you’re still interested in adopting a new BFF, there are more dogs and cats available at our locations in Weaverville, North Carolina, New York City and Los Angeles. You can also check out your local shelter or visit our friends at Animal Care Centers of NYC!

If this isn’t the right time for you to adopt, but you could temporarily take care of a dog or cat in your home, you can still make a difference for animals in need by becoming a foster caregiver! You can foster for the ASPCA in Columbus, Ohio, Weaverville, North Carolina, New York City and Los Angeles (cat fosters only).
