Injured Dog Found Abandoned by Roadside

October 28, 2015

Dharma, this sweet black-and-white pit bull, was found abandoned on a roadside with a prolapsed uterus. Her ears were clipped and her tongue was ripped. She had just given birth, but her puppies were nowhere in sight.

After her rescue, Dharma was adopted by an ASPCA staffer named Matt. Since then, the duo has been inseparable—Dharma has gone on road trips and hiking expeditions and has been by Matt’s side through illness, injury and grief. With her painful past behind her, Dharma proved to be a perfect pet and a loving, loyal companion. She is also one of the many wonderful animals featured in the 2016 Special Edition ASPCA Calendar.

The ASPCA Calendar includes heartwarming photographs and success stories of animals, like Dharma, adopted by our team. If you would like to join us in celebrating these animals, and the countless others whose lives have been impacted by the ASPCA, please make a gift of $25 or more today. In return, we’ll send you the 2016 ASPCA Calendar, hot off the presses!
