Spay/Neuter Services

Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals arrive at one of the community animal shelters nationwide. With such high animal intake, shelters can at times struggle to adopt out all of the pets who come through their doors. As a result, millions of otherwise adoptable cats and dogs are euthanized.

Unplanned litters often contribute to these high intake numbers, which could be prevented with local spay and neuter programs. Stray populations often develop and grow when left unmanaged in neighborhoods with limited access to affordable spay/neuter services.

Recognizing this, the ASPCA offers high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter surgery for pets of residents in underserved communities in New York City, Los Angeles and Asheville, North Carolina, to address the problem at its source. Providing access to these services is a crucial factor in saving the lives of more animals and is an essential part of the ASPCA’s efforts to keep more animals off the streets and from entering shelters.
