Astraea

Meet Astraea, the joy machine who turns every day into an adventure!
Astraea is the definition of joyful energy, always eager to dive into whatever comes next. She came to the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center as a fearful stray, but with a change of scenery and a little TLC from our behavior team, she has completely opened up! She is now a confident, fun-loving pup who wakes up every morning ready to make the world fun.
Tug? That’s Astraea’s favorite warm up. Fetch? She’s already sprinting. Nose work, training games, splashing through water and exploring new places — she treats life like it’s one big “yes!” Walks are one of Astraea’s love languages. Woods, neighborhoods, trails and fields — if it’s outside, she’s in. Give her a little play first and she’ll walk with a lovely, happy rhythm beside you.
Astraea is the kind of dog who makes people smile without trying. Laugh in her presence and she lights up like you just invited her to the best party ever! She gets wiggly, bouncy and absolutely thrilled to be part of the moment. Astraea is a friend to everyone she meets, whether you’re a brand-new buddy or an old friend she already loves. Once she has gotten all her zoomies out, she transforms into a cuddly girl who thinks laps were invented just for her.
Astraea is also smart as a whip. She already knows sit and lay down, and we’re pretty sure she’s hiding a few more tricks she hasn’t revealed yet. She’s eager, motivated and loves showing off her brain as much as her playful side.
With other dogs, Astraea is a bold greeter with a lot of feelings. She has gotten along best with confident, easygoing dogs who don’t mind her big hello. A few minutes of play with her people beforehand helps her settle into her best self for dog time.
Astraea is a joyful, expressive, water-loving adventure buddy who lives life in bold print. If you want a dog who brings energy, laughter, heart and a whole lot of fun to the table, and then climbs in your lap for a cuddle break, Astraea might just be your perfect match.
