Job Summary:

Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital (BMAH) located at the ASPCA New York City Headquarters office, located at 424 East 92nd Street, between 1st Ave. & York Ave. BMAH is an animal medical facility that offers state- of- the-art digital radiography, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, endoscopy, ultrasound, cardiology, dermatology, spay/neuter and vaccines. We have a high–quality ICU and offer 24- hour nursing care by Licensed Veterinary Technicians in our hospital. BMAH handles a high volume emergency practice and supports our ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement (HLE) officers, with cruelty investigations. BMAH also supports our busy ASPCA adoptions department with their more challenging medical cases.

The BMAH hospital is accredited by both the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and the New York State Veterinary Association (NYSVA).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of medical problems of outpatient and hospitalized animals
  • Surgery
  • Prompt client communication
  • Provide medical information and representation to other departments of the ASPCA, to the public and to the media
  • Public relations: Represent the “A” to the media, including TV appearances.
  • Participation in daily medical rounds
  • Participation in doctors meetings
  • Mentorship and training of Externs and Interns
  • Ability to work in a high volume fast paced emergency practice
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff including ACT’s, CSR’s and LVT’s.

Qualifications:

  • License: NY State Department of Education
  • Degree: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
  • 2-5 years small animal medicine experience
