Walkers Shortbread and the ASPCA Team Up Again to Save Animals
Following a successful partnership with the ASPCA® in 2012, through which Walkers raised over $25,000 for the ASPCA, the purveyor of traditional cookies, cakes, oatcakes and puddings of Scotland, has announced that they will commit to a second year of supporting the ASPCA. Walkers will double its minimum donation amount to $50,000 for 2013 by contributing 10 cents from the sale of each of the Scottie Dog Shortbread 3.9-ounce cartons and 20 cents per unit for larger sizes, to the ASPCA's initiatives for ending animal cruelty.
Unveiled in 2011, the Scottie Dog cookies are pure butter shortbread. In January 2012, a special edition Scottie Dog tin debuted in San Francisco. The tin is filled with 18 Scottie Dog cookies and adorned with black-and-white Scottish terriers against a background of Walkers’ traditional tartan.
"The adorable Scottie Dog cookies convey our affinity for this beloved breed, and working with the ASPCA is a great way for us, as well as our customers, to show our appreciation for animals," said Jim Walker, managing director of Walkers Shortbread. "Walkers Shortbread wishes to help the ASPCA raise awareness of the issues of animal cruelty and homelessness."
