ASPCA® Announces Arrest of Bronx Woman for Burning Kitten to Death in Oven

NEW YORK—Humane Law Enforcement agents of the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) arrested Bronx resident Cheyenne Cherry yesterday evening for aggravated animal cruelty, burglary, criminal mischief and  arson.

On June 3, the suspect was arrested in Manhattan for illegally entering an apartment on Tinton Avenue in the Bronx and killing a two month-old female kitten by burning it to death in an oven.  The kitten, named Tiger Lily, was found dead at the scene.  The remains were taken to ASPCA's Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital where veterinarians performed a necropsy.

Cherry, 17, was charged with multiple counts of burglary, arson, criminal mischief, cruelty to animals and faces more than 10 years in prison if convicted of all charges.
