The dog-days of summer have arrived, but we’ve only got cats on our mind. You see, kitten season is officially underway—meaning homeless, feral and un-spayed cats around the country have begun to breed en masse.
During kitten season, shelters nationwide are flooded with newborn cats, and what happens to these babies is nothing short of tragic. Virtually overnight, the number of kittens begins to exceed the number of homes available, and the sad reality is that millions of cats are euthanized during this season every single year.
The ASPCA is leading the fight against feline overpopulation with our renowned Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, our free-and-low-cost spay/neuter services, and our innovative adoption and foster programs. In addition, we recently announced plans to open a kitten nursery, designed specifically to care for the thousands of newborn cats that come through our doors.
We are fighting tirelessly to save cats’ lives, and we hope we can count on you to help us during this urgent time of need. Please make a donation to the ASPCA today.
