As you read this, hundreds of wild horses living in Nevada’s Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge are enduring the terrifying round-up process—the U.S. government’s outdated method of managing horse populations on federal lands. With the help of Founders like you, we are working tirelessly on Capitol Hill to protect all wild horses.
We know you’ll agree that these majestic creatures deserve better. This treatment is cruel, inhumane and unnecessary. There are several preferable options for managing wild horse populations—fertility control; reintroduction of herds to habitats they once roamed; sanctuary designations—and the ASPCA is fighting hard for them. We also continue to fight for passage of the SAFE Act, which would prohibit the slaughter of horses for human consumption in the U.S. and ban their transport over our borders for that purpose.
With your support, we’ll continue our critical work to stop cruelty against wild horses and countless other animals who count on us. Your generosity will help stop cruelty across the country, wherever it occurs. We can’t thank you enough.
