Phil, also known to the humans in his life as Little, is an affectionate cat that enjoys gentle attention. Phil is very sweet but also shy, so he will likely begin his adventure in his new home by exploring at night and hiding in safe spaces all day. Phil’s foster parent reports that during the daytime if you tempt him with a wand toy to come play at the edge of a hiding place, soon enough, he'll be jumping all around trying to chase it. Phil isn’t fond of hands reaching for him. If he’s comfortable, Phil will seek humans for playtime and pets on his terms, sometimes spending time on your lap. Even after spending quality time together, he can be spooked by an unexpected approach.
Phil enjoys petting all over and tolerates being picked up once he is comfortable.
Phil has lived with cats and will tolerate dogs but is nervous when the dog moves around in his space. He seems most relaxed when the dog is calm and laying down so he may do okay with a calm, quiet dog in his adoptive home. He is sensitive to changes in his environment and will take time to settle in new places. If you decide that Phil is your guy, the Adoption Center staff will be able to provide support to help him acclimate.
