Nationwide, animal shelters and rescues have suspended their operations or greatly reduced their services as a result of the pandemic. But with an incredible response from partner rescues and foster caregivers, thousands of animals in need have been able to receive critical care, cuddles and cozy beds or stalls.

But their journeys won’t stop there—they’re still looking for families to call their own. That’s why we’re so excited to announce that from June 5-7, you can join us as we host a National Adoption Weekend which will focus on remote adoptions!

Visit our friends at The Shelter Pet Project or My Right Horse for more adoptable animals.

Not quite ready to adopt but want to get involved and help animals find homes during this weekend event? You can share adoptable animals on your social media channels and encourage friends and family to get involved, too! Find adoptable animals to re-share by searching the hashtag #AdoptFromHome or by visiting your local shelter’s social media accounts or website. You can also visit The Shelter Pet Project and easily share the adoptable animals by clicking the social media share icons.

PetSmart Charities   Petco Foundation

Once you’ve met your new match and make your adoption official, you can visit your local PetSmart© or Petco© with your adoption paperwork and get one of their kits for new adopters! These kits may include things like a free bag of pet food and hundreds of dollars in coupon savings on all the essentials you’ll need for your new cat or dog—from treats and toys to litter and flea and tick protection as well as professional grooming, training and boarding.

VCA

VCA Animal Hospitals is also providing all adopters through the ASPCA National Adoption Weekend a free Healthy Start exam and up to $250 to treat any minor illness at any of their hospitals. This offer will be available to all newly adopted pets and their families in the first 14 days of their adoption, because pets that see a veterinarian have a greater chance of staying in their new home.
