Legal Advocacy since 2012

In July 2012, Ollie was found as a stray in Queens, NY. He was only a few weeks old, but already blind as the result of a terrible eye infection. A friend told Jennifer that Ollie needed a home to recuperate in after his eye surgery, so she and her fiancé agreed to foster him.

Not having lived with a cat since childhood—and having no experience with blind cats—Jennifer was very nervous when she first picked Ollie up from the vet. But he quickly dispelled any assumptions she had about blind cats by exploring every nook and cranny of her apartment, making himself right at home with his canine foster sister, and, as Jennifer puts it, “stealing our hearts with his incomparable personality.” In November 2012, Jennifer and her fiancé adopted Ollie, and now they can’t imagine life with him. “Every day, Ollie reminds me to live life to the fullest and with a bit of wild abandon,” she says. “He is simply unstoppable.”
