New YorkSaving animals and pets from the streets in Louisiana communities is a daily occurrence, and thanks to The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) and the HSUS (Humane Society of the United States, transporting them to local shelters will improve with the use of brand new, custom-made animal transport vehicles.
The ASPCA and HSUS have donated animal transport vehicles to St. John the Baptist Parish Animal Shelter, Ascension Parish Parish Animal Shelter, Lafayette Parish Animal Shelter and PAWS of Placquemines Parish. Each Parish will receive a vehicle to their desired specifications for service to the pets and people in their communities and their continued recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina.
The first of these vehicles is scheduled for delivery on Saturday, September 9, at St. John the Baptist Parish Animal Shelter.
Special thanks go to Mavron, Inc., Deerskin Manufacturing, Inc. and Jones Trailer Company for providing these vehicles to the specifications of the receiving shelters. All of the vehicles will have temperature gauges in the cab to monitor the air-conditioner in the animal housing area of the unit, as well as full power and air. Trucks will have extended cabs to store animal capture equipment.
